Anthony ‘Showtime’ Pettis misses weight for his UFC 206 interim title fight

Is it not enough! Another tough blow for the UFC 206 card. Anthony Pettis has failed to make weight for the featherweight interim strap against Max Hollaway, at UFC 206 headlined in Toronto, Canada.

Ariel Helwani from MMAFighting.com hinted to a troubling cut for Anthony Pettis before the news of his missed weight became official. Anthony Pettis has missed weight by 3 lbs and there is no word of the fight being scratched, if so UFC 206 would be a huge blow to the fans in the north.

earlier this month Conor McGregor was stripped of being a two weight title holder and was said to have “relinquished” the featherweight belt, are those his words I would assume not. Thus, the belt falling into the hands of former featherweight champion Jose Aldo, who is now the undisputed Featherweight champion due to McGregor’s situation.

Max Hollaway (16-3 MMA, 12-3 UFC) is currently ranked #3 on the UFC featherweight division rankings and is riding a 9 fight win streak, recently defeating Ricardo Lamas in a Unanimous Decision at UFC 199 Rockhold vs Bisping 2.

Since dropping from 155 to 145 Anthony Pettis  (19-5 MMA, 6-4 UFC) had recent success against Charles Oliveria, winning a hard-fought 3 round fight by way of Submission (Guillotine Choke). The win has put Pettis back on the mantle and within a spand of 3 months “Showtime” has earned himself a ticket to Toronto to become the first interim titleholder in the featherweight division.
