Of course Joe Silva and Sean Shelby have their hands full considering all the rising talent the UFC has to offer, but man some of these women are eager to fight.
If you haven’t heard of her already then get to know her by any means necessary. Julianna Pena is the outspoken and charismatic of the bantamweight bunch. “Honda” & “Harmless Holly” should be trademarked if it isn’t already. Pena is the first ever Women’s Bantamweight winner of The Ultimate Fighter: Team Rousey vs. Team Tate. Selected by Team Tate, Pena recalls a moment where then champ Ronda Rousey told her “This other girl doesn’t deserve to breathe the same air, and she knows it”. “The Venezuelan vixen” has made it clear that she will make Ronda regret ever saying that. Since winning unanimously against Cat Zingano at UFC 200, Pena has now stormed through her UFC opponents to only lobby for a title shot.
Kyrgyzstan’s Valentina Shevchenko became a fan favorite at the perfect time, upsetting Holly Holm at UFC Fight Night Chicago. The battle of kickboxing vs Muay Thai, and Muay Thai prevailed. Valentina displayed great counter punches and continuous low kicks; in other words she picked apart Holly. Now calling for a rematch with Amanda Nunes, Shevchenko has something to prove.
Sarah McMann is coming off a unanimous decision win against Jessica Eye. McMann has steadily made her way back into the mix feeling she deserves either Shevchenko or Pena.
And what about the champ! (Amanda Nunes) Nunes last fought at UFC 200 dominating Miesha Tate to earn herself the Women’s Bantamweight belt. It may seem as if Nunes is ducking the rest of the division to wait for Ronda Rousey’s return, but that doesn’t seem to be the case as she’s been very active with Pena’s persistent callous.
