What was thought to be Luke Rockhold’s next fight, no longer seems to be the case, because the UFC may have found an alternative; the “All American” Chris Weidman.
Yoel Romero posted on Instagram that the fight between him and Weidman is official and moments later the post was deleted. He may have jumped the gun but that is no reason to scrap this card. Reports have emerged that this fight is going to happen and will also be one of the main event bout in Madison Square Garden.
How picture perfect is this for Chris Weidman, a native of Baldwin, New York and being able to come back after his long layoff from injuries and fight in his home state. Chris Weidman hasn’t fought since early 2015 but has managed to get under the skin of his division rivals, allowing himself to stay relevant within the Middleweight division.
Yoel Romero claimed that his failed drug test was the result of a tainted supplement, and USADA served him a 6 month suspension. This will be Romero’s first fight back since the suspension but let’s not forget before being flagged he was on a 7 fight win streak and in the midst of a title shot.
