A chance to see Luke Rockhold go up against “The Greatest Of All Time” (Silva) would have MMA (Mixed Martial Art) fans anxious to see them stand toe-to-toe.
Luke Rockhold is left in a situation of pick & choose, coming off a knockout loss to the new middleweight champion Michael Bisping at UFC 199. With injuries prolonging his return and rumours of a bout between current champ (Bisping) and Dan Henderson, his eyes are set on the spider (Silva).
Rockhold is clearly making his case, as this would be a title contention fight. Although, their are a few contenders lurking in the division, with Yoel Romero’s suspension reaching completion, a potential Chris Weidman trilogy and let alone the real #1 contender Jacare (Souza), it’ll be interesting to see how this plays out.
I guess the real question is which Anderson Silva are we going to see, yes MMA fans adore the sights of Silva in the octagon, whether you’re the “hardcore” or “Casual” viewer but the guy hasn’t officially won a bout since 2012. With that said, Silva is a warrior, saving the UFC 200 card was signs of what a real fighter is. To take a bout in 3 days notice and fight Light Heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier; warrior esque.
Both fighters known for their stand up skills, having these two in the octagon won’t be a lackluster affair; i can tell you that. Now we’ll just await Silva’s response and go from there.
